Impressed with Sandeep Lamichhane. 17 year old Nepalese leggie who spins the ball hugely both ways. Can we claim him for England ?

Haven't seen him yet, but given our lack of quality spinners let's do it!

So Essex last played a championship game over 6 weeks ago. It's another 10 days until they play again. That's virtually 2 months. It might as well be a completely new season.

The English county cricket season fixture list is an utter joke.

Throw in the utterly baffling decision to not have any of the four matches in September played on either Saturday or Sunday and you wonder who dreams this up.

Somerset - Essex brewing up to a tight finish. Clashing with the test has been a real pain, but free to watch today. If we lose, I hope Surrey also lose.

Always had a soft spot for Somerset and their spin friendly home ground.

Don't rely on Lancy to see it home against Surrey Lou.

74 needed with 5 wickets left, we'll mess it up.

Leach doing the damage for Somerset. Going to be a really tense finish. 78 runs needed, 5 wickets in hand.

Morkel picked up 2 quick wickets, the procession has started.

Surrey having already signed Plunkett have nicked Jordan Clarke from Lancy. Spent years nurturing him and he goes just as he's reaching his prime.

Off to Hove tomorrow for the day (Sussex v Leicestershire). 1st Central box, beer on tap and lunch and tea in the deal, which is free for me and Mrs Z. Son-in-law in high places a bonus.

21 wickets already fallen at Taunton on the first day

Somerset opened the bowling with 2 spinners in Lancy's 2nd innings. You'd like to think the pitch would get reported but they've been getting away with it for years at Ciderabad.

Incredible finish at Taunton.

Edit: It's a tie, wow.
