Imagine that - most people have a day off, perfect to spend some time supporting their local county side and there is not a single match taking place. And then they say county cricket is dying and they don't get the crowds in. I wonder why, eh?

Nope, none on Saturday either or next Saturday. Three days out of five not used.

Lancy caned by Essex today. All out for 105 in the second innings setting no sort of target at all. Doubt Anderson will play another first class game this season and relegation now a possibility, not that it matters much really.

Of wider concern is the form of Haseeb Hameed. 18 months ago it looked like England had found an opener who would be in the team for years to come. Got a really bad finger injury in India and hasn't been the same since. 44 runs at 5.50 average in 2018.

Essex bowled really well today, as did Onions to be fair. It took the cool heads of seasoned pros like the fantastic Ravi Bopara (and the captain Ten Doeschate) to see us home after some of the top order Essex batters got out to poor shots.

A lot of England (potential) batters in that Lancashire top order, not sure any of them did their cause much good.

PS. Can someone tell Chanderpaul the square at Old Trafford was shifted 90 degrees 7 years ago now. He doesn't seem to have noticed... :)

Well done to Leics. Thoroughly deserved win from what I gather. Just glad that there isn't a third division, or Northants would be heading down into that. :(

He’s making Broad look like Don Bradman.

22,000 first class runs for Cook. Some achievement.

Kent v Hampshire final today. So nothing of interest for the downtrodden Northerners .

Barely anyone there and the broadcasting rights must be bugger all if it's on Freesports but many of the usual 20/20 touring circus of cricketers are playing.

Still it's on at a decent time to watch here and it was good to see that uber cunt Warner being cleaned up for 1 yesterday.
