Lawrence scored only 2 less than the whole of the Yorkshire team. If they had DRS in county cricket, he'd have reviewed his LBW decision for sure. Looks like Yorkshire will be batting again pretty soon.

Yorkshire out before lunch, Essex out by tea ... match could be over in a day at this rate.

First time I've been interested in listening to Darren gough with his rant over this just now he reckons they're going to get done because they've rigged the pitch to make sure the match is over within 2 days because of the weather we've been having.

except that the weather forecast is fantastic for the entire Bank Holiday weekend, and ironically if the match was over today/early tomorrow they'd miss out on a stack of revenue in terms of ticket/food/beer sales

Have a listen to it on listen again, he gave more details, I just gave a broad strokes version there but to fair to him, he sounds like a moron most times he speaks, but whenever he talks cricket you can hear the knowledge he possesses in this subject. I thought he made an interesting argument. Worth a listen.

Its in between 16.30 - 1700

Having watched every ball today (unlike Gough), I can assure you he is talking bullshit.

How so? Its got to be the pitch in fairness, Yorkshire and Essex dont have the best bowlers to have ever played cricket suddenly.

Essex are county champions. We won nearly every match last season. Porter and Harmer both took over 70 wickets each last season. Peter Siddle is an experienced, world class bowler who played test cricket for Australia for many years.

If the pitch was 'fixed' or so poor, why did Yorkshire not bowl first, which they could have done?

One of the commentators described the Yorkshire batting in their first innings as 'hopeless' - but hey, I'm sure Goughie knows better, even though he wasn't even there, and that obviously the pitch was fixed!

Hey I'll bow to your greater knowledge, if you dont think the pitch played a part, fine. It just shows why we're so bad at test level really, to have 2 supposedly top class teams skittled in half a day, that is appalling.

I'm saying the pitch wasn't 'fixed'. That's what I'm saying. Gough is bullshitting.

If you play cricket in April/Early May after a winter where it has rained pretty much every day, any pitch isn't going to be perfectly prepared and bowlers will thrive in these conditions. 19 wickets at Glamorgan today, did Gough have a view on that one? :)

Probably because they didn't want to bat last.
