Priority slots for two year olds in elimination ballots.

Quite an extensive list and rather than post it here those interested can find the download in the link.

Would have been a massive time saver had they included Sire/Dam next to each horse.

Racing all set for Monday resumption following latest Government guidance.

Horseracing has been given the all-clear to return at Newcastle on Monday with culture minister Oliver Dowden declaring on Saturday “the wait is over” for the return of live sport. An initial statement from the BHA said: "Horseracing is confirmed as first major sport to resume, beginning with a fixture behind closed doors at Newcastle on Monday. It will be great to be back."

Last years G1 Futurity winner Kameko continued his progression despite suffering interference as he angled out for a run approaching the 2F mark. Picked up nicely when in the clear despite edging right and stayed on to lead inside final 100 yds. My figures have him as an above average winner, 10F shouldn't be a problem but less certain about stamina for further. The Eclipse over 10F would have been an ideal race to see how he fares when stepped up in trip although with 3yo's excluded this year he may end up in the Derby by default. He does hold an entry in the French Derby (10F) which would also suit but that's reliant on French racing authorities lifting the restriction on international runners.

Saw Wichita in last years Dewhurst and noted at the time he was a big scopey colt. Going from pictures on tv (not ideal) he looks to be filling his frame nicely and took a step forward here with the extra furlong & better going helping to reverse the Dewhurst form with Pinatubo & stablemate Arizona. He travelled well and although he was headed inside the final 100 yds, he stayed on right to the line. Really likable sort who should continue to grow and progress this summer with the St James's Palace Stakes looking the next obvious target.

Pinatubo came into this as the highest rated 2yo in over 25 years & only the third colt since the turn of the century to go off odds on. Pinatubo with Buick on board tracked Wichita in mid-field before making a move three out that was to tell in the final furlong. Buick found himself within a length of the lead with 2½ furlongs remaining, realising this he briefly steadied things before driving upsides Wichita but could only run on one paced to the finish. Given the ride again Buick would probably have ridden Pinatubo a little more conservatively although imo he was beaten fair & square on the day. This was still a very smart performance and he will reportedly be heading for the St James's Palace Stakes.

Military March put in a decent performance considering the trip being short enough. Pedigree full of middle distance performers, he's talented and remains capable of better once stepped up in distance, holds Derby entry.

Looks a strong 2000 Gns, run at a true gallop with the winner recording the fastest ever time for any Guineas, the runner up & third also beating the previous record. Before getting too carried away with the times it has to be noted that conditions contributed to fast times throughout the meeting. Maries Diamond being a perfect example having ran a faster time in the Listed Paradise Stakes the previous day.

Some notable performances from last week.

Frankly Darling
Nice re appearance in 10F maiden on Monday after finishing runner up on debut last term, daughter of Frankel only needing to be shaken up 2F out before putting the race to bed in emphatic style. Smart prospect and likely to stay further still. Holds an Oaks entry but trainer Gosden may elect to send her to RA for G2 Ribblesdale, a race he won last term with Star Catcher.

First Receiver
Saw him on debut at HQ in July finishing a close 3rd in what has turned out to be a very good maiden. Had a wide draw to contend with here but was soon dictating and moved through the gears late on for a comfortable win. Not the hottest of contests but should be capable of stepping up from 1M, owned by the Queen and trained by Stoute, holds Derby entry.

Berlin Tango
Nice performance to land the Classic Trial Stakes over 10F at Kempton despite being a bit keen through the early stages. Not entered in the Derby as a yearling and in any other year connections would have needed to find an £85,000 supplementary fee to get him into the Classic but with just a standard six day entry stage applying every chance he could turn up there.

The Lir Jet
Impressive debut in 5F Novice Stakes at Yarmouth breaking the all-aged record at the track albeit with firm ground and a decent tail wind. Reportedly heading for the G2 Norfolk stakes at RA, his sire Prince Of Lir showed an abundance of early speed and precocity as a 2yo to land the same event.

Eye Of Heaven
Taking debut in what appeared to be a decent 5F maiden at HQ, travelling nicely throughout before quickening nicely at business end breaking 2yo track record in process. Trainer Johnston confirming next run will be the Norfolk at RA. Quick mention for others, runner up Get It showed plenty of speed and would have finished closer to Eye Of Heaven but for stumbling going into the Dip. The 3rd home Tactical can be considered unlucky in running and 4th placed Vedute hung right under pressure.

Creative Force
Nice debut, showed plenty of speed early on, made the most of having the rail and battled admirably to land 6F maiden at HQ. A half-brother to Group 1 winner Persuasive, the Coventry at RA looks a suitable target.

Mighty Gurkha
Won nicely on debut in Lingfield maiden over 6F, not sure what he beat here but he's a big unit with plenty of scope. Another Coventry bound.

Miss Yoda
Sent off the even money fav, landed the Listed Oaks trial at Lingfield despite being 4th entering the final 2F, found plenty on run in to land the odds a shade cosily. Anapurna won this race for the Gosden team 12 months ago before going on to victory at Epsom, either the Oaks or Ribblesdale next.

English King
Very impressive reappearance in the Listed Derby Trial at Lingfield. Showed shades of greeness but handled the hill well before stretching away to win by an eased-down 2¾L. This son of Camelot is the type to go on improving and is an interesting contender in what is an open-looking Derby year.

Notable performances from weekend.

Palace Pier
Was an intended 2000 Gns runner until missing some key work due to a minor setback. Made a return here in C2 1M handicap at Newcastle off a mark of 98. Found himself a couple of lengths behind entering final furlong but responded generously for pressure to win by 3¼L from the well regarded Aquitted. This son of Kingman will reportedly be kept at 1M although step up to 10F should be within his scope.

Modern News
This was all supposed to about last years highest priced European yearling Nobel Dynasty(3.6million gns) but it was the less favoured stablemate Modern News that looked the more forward to land the spoils by a neck. Step up to 7F in the Chesham at RA next. Runner up put in some nice work once the penny dropped, suspect they'll also step him up to 7F but won't be RA bound.

Sunray Major
Half brother to Kingman, despite having to be re-shod landed Novice event over 1M at HQ, nice introduction.

Lauded
This looked a decent Novice event over 6F at Haydock with plenty of big stables represented. Lauded put in a professional performance on debut, quickening up nicely for a 4½L victory. Heads to the Coventry at RA.

Palace Pier heads for St James's Palace Stakes
On being asked by panel host Nick Luck whether or not he thought Newmarket handicap scorer Palace Pier was streetwise enough for next Saturday's St James's Palace Stakes, in which he's due to face 2000 Guineas second and third, Wichita and Pinatubo, Gosden said: "It’s not a normal year and these horses don’t get many chances. They deserve their chance but if they get caught out for greenness – that’s life. At least you’ve given it a try. “Without Parole (won the race for Gosden in 2018) had a proper run in, three races before Ascot, and we haven’t had that luxury with him (Palace Pier), but that’s life. The Guineas was a proper Guineas and there was no hiding place. They got racing early and that probably cost the favourite but he ran well."

Sheik Fahad purchases The Lir Jet
David Redvers, racing manager to Qatar Racing, said: "Sheikh Fahad is always on the lookout for the right horse and watched The Lir Jet win at Yarmouth and liked what he saw. Hopefully, we'll see that blistering turn of foot in the Norfolk Stakes next Friday. He looks a strong individual and looks a ready made Royal Ascot runner."

What do you make of Wichita’s chances of reversing the Guineas placincings if Kameko goes back to miling, Sam?

I think he has a chance as Frankie rode the race to beat Pinnitubo and Oisin was able to capitalise on it.

That’s a shame.

I wonder will the lads be tempted to run Anthony Van Dyck.

I don’t know if a Derby winner has ever gone on to win the Gold Cup....but it is just the type of challenge Mr. Magnier and co. relish.
