Samcro could go over further as a option. Well beaten yesterday.

Samcro had conditions in his favour plus the benefit of a previous run so no real excuses and like you say was comprehensively beaten here. Interesting to hear connections post race stating they intend to carry on down the CH route, on this evidence it's hard to envisage him reversing the form.

Should they change their mind the stayers hurdle a plausible target. Love to see him go over a fence though and still not too late to switch to novice chasing.

A little bit novicey over the first couple but soon settled into a slick round of jumping, quickening away from previous winners Dynamite Dollars and Claimantakinforgan to land the spoils by 7L. Versatile regarding ground and appears to be just as effective on stiff or easy tracks, there's a lot to like and on this evidence should be more to come. Still some 8's around for the Arkle.

Declared for the G1 HenryVIII Novices Chase at Sandown on Sat. Really looking forward to seeing him again and expecting him to build on impressive debut at Cheltenham.

Disappointing run on the face of it and have read many, including the trainer, putting it down to the ground conditions. Whilst there was no doubt the tacky ground didn't play to Lalor's strengths (despite him previously winning on soft & heavy) it wasn't the sole reason, imo.

Positioning, particularly in a 2M chase is vital. Lalor went from 5 lengths off lead passing post 1st time to 15+ lengths down after a very slow next jump (the 5th) you simply can't give away ground like that around Sandown. Stayed on well to the line but an inefficient ride where expended energy chasing lost ground ultimately cost him being competitive at the business end.

Back out to 8's for Arkle and likely to go for Lightning Novices' Chase at Doncaster next month, not one to give up on just yet.

Great two days racing at Sandown culminating in a what looked a classic Tingle Creek beforehand and it certainly didn't disappoint.

Had my heart in my mouth when Altior clobbered the 2nd but fantastic race and finish from two top class chasers. Un De Sceaux had his optimum conditions here and made the most of it as he really poured on the pressure from the 6th out. He was foot perfect (at times outjumping Altior) but Altior does relish an uphill finish and powered away on the run in.

UDS lost nothing in defeat and ran right up to his mark here. Altior displayed all the credentials needed to be considered one the best this division has produced.

Entitle, half sister to Enable declared for novice event at Lingfield tomorrow. Saw her on debut in a decent enough novice race at HQ, ran very green finishing 6/8th. Stepping up to 1M after lengthy break, be interesting to see how she goes here.

Nice card at Newbury. Particularly looking forward to watching the novice hurdle, a cracking race in prospect that will hopefully provide plenty of pointers for the coming weeks/months.

Slowly into stride from wide draw, ran green again (on wrong leg for most of the trip) despite that displayed a great attitude to battle back in final furlong to take this nicely. Still a way to go with her, 1M looks minimum trip, open to further improvement when she finally gets it all together, step up in distance shouldn't be a problem. Weak in market beforehand, opened 9/2 returned at 6/1.

Connections of Gold Cup ante post fav Presenting Percy not supplementing him for King George VI, likely to go for Lexus instead. Eleven stand their ground.

As far as wind ops go this is relatively straightforward compared to other procedures. Goes straight to GC now, lets hope this will go some way to helping him recapture his old sparkle.

Not sure what he beat, given it was Plumpton, but looked most impressive.
