Quality Novice event over 1M 2F 65yds at York on Sun with plenty of top yards represented.

Roberto Escobar was an unlucky in running 3rd on debut at Haydock and took a big step forward here to land this in good style. Shaken up over 3F out, led 2F out, went clear late on. Strong galloping performance and still full of running at the post, will stay at least 12F, looks an exciting prospect.

Matthew Flinders improved again here despite having no chance with winner. A little keen early on and ran green when headed over 2F out but kept on well. Good run, travelled powerfully, will stay 12F, open to further improvement.

Group & Listed events.

Change of tactics for Even So who made all when winning Oaks trial over 10F at Naas earlier this month. Ridden with more restraint here, travelled strongly and going well when switched 2F out, stayed on well to lead inside final furlong. Bred to excel at middle distances she relished the extra two furlongs and saw the trip out well although has to be noted the easy lead afforded to Snow in early stages meant it wasn't a thorough a test as it could of been. Still a smart performance and remains open to improvement, Yorkshire Oaks or Prix Vermeille are reasonable targets.

Cayenne Pepper once again found one to good for her after running into Magical in G1 Pretty Polly last time out. Upped another couple of furlongs here she travelled well to go on over 1F out but no extra when headed well inside final furlong. Astute trainer should find an opening for her to add to sole G3 win.

Passion went faster than ideal when helping to set pace in Oaks at Epsom on previous outing. Ridden with more restraint here and may have finished closer to the winner but for meeting some trouble early in the straight when going well. Stayed on here and more emphasis on stamina could benefit her as she looks as if 12F+ could suit.

Ennistymon raced well off the pace and wasn't persevered with, something clearly amiss and happy to put a line through this. Possibly two hard races in Ribblesdale & Oaks have caught up with her, not one to give up hope with.

Rose Bowl Stakes Listed event over 6F at Newbury on Sat.

Method looked a potentially smart 2yo when routing a Novice field over 6F on debut. Didn't need to improve to take this, took keen hold, headway on bridle 2F out, quickened to lead inside final furlong, impressive. Likely to figure in top 2 yo events rest of this term, Richmond Stakes or Prix Morny if staying at 6F, Vintage Stakes if upped to 7F, exciting prospect.

Mighty Gurkha returned to 6F and progressed again in defeat despite not handling the premlims well. Led and quickened clear 2F out, no match for winner when headed inside final furlong. Good run and another form boost for Windsor Castle where he finished 5th behind Tactical.

Prix Robert Papin G2 over 5F 212yds at Chantilly on Sun.

The Lir Jet up to 6F lost his unbeaten record by the narrowest of margins. In touch, headway under pressure to challenge inside final furlong, just beaten on the nod. Showed he stayed the extra furlong here though reportedly back to 5F for Nunthorpe.

Word on the winner Ventura Tormenta who was supplemented for this after promising run in G2 Superlative 8 days ago over 7F. Improved here for drop back to 6F and with more experience under his belt managed to turn the tables on runner up having previously finished behind him on debut in Norfolk at RA. Gimcrack or back to France for Morny are reportedly next options.

Only three runners in the King George.
Alex Young, Howard Kendall, Andy King, Timmy Cahill, Dixie Dean and Mike Parry.....we'll never see the likes of them again.

With all the attention on the blanket finish I was hoping Folk Dance may have slipped under the radar when finishing midfield latest. Obviously not the only one to have spotted his troubled passage as he was consequently over bet to land this being sent off the 4/6 jolly. Took a keen hold, raced well off the pace until headway from 2F out, every chance before going down by short head in final strides. Talented 5lb claimer on board the winner the difference in the end. Probably go up a few pounds for this but up to landing something similar.

Maiden & novice action from Fri & weekend.

Ordinary novice event over 10F at HQ on Fri.

Darian didn't need to improve on debut to take this at prohibitive odds under 7lb penalty. Didn't fully settle early on and lack of pace in the race meant he had to work harder than expected but was well on top at business end. Remains open to improvement.

This looked a decent Maiden over 6F at Ascot on Sat. Restricted to colts & geldings who have run no more than once.

Hannon stable has farmed this in recent times providing the winner in four of the last five renewals so a slight surprise that the winner Mohawk King was allowed to go off @6/1. Held up and travelled well, headway 2F out, quickened to lead inside final furlong, ran on. Nice debut and looks sure to improve, Acomb over 7F next month could suit.

Maiden Fillies event over 7F at Ascot on Sat. Traditionally an informative maiden that usually throws up some decent types.

Zabeel Queen beautifully bred filly by Frankel landed this on debut. Ran green when shaken up 2F out but quickened nicely to lead inside final furlong to win this in pleasing fashion. Bred for further so encouraging that she showed a decent turn of foot here, will stay 1M and has G1 Moyglare entry. Runner up Snow Lantern is another daughter of Frankel and connections will be pleased with a promising debut here. Raced off the pace and ran green before penny dropped, made headway over 1F out and kept on well to take second near line. Will stay 1M and looks a really nice prospect going forward.

New Mandate had shown promise on debut but failed to build on that here. Reportedly edgy in prelims, tried to make all but didn't settle fully, no extra inside final 100yds. Bumped into a couple of decent sorts here, has shown ability but needs to relax to fulfill potential.

Fillies Novice event over 1M at HQ on Sat.
Decent enough event with some of the top yards represented.

Declaring Love took another step forward albeit in defeat. Raced freely before headway 3F out, every chance inside last, ran on. Sent off the 8/11 jolly here and looks to have bumped into a decent sort in the winner. Up to landing something similar. Zahratty took third late, ran green before keeping on well as penny dropped under a very considerate ride, should improve for this experience.

Novice event over 7F 6yds at Doncaster on Sat that occasionally throws up a nice one.

Albasheer made an impressive debut here, quickened to lead over 1F out before drawing clear. Final 2F sectional splits notable particularly as it came off a steady pace. Looks an exciting prospect.

Tinker Toy had to work harder here under 7lb penalty than on debut. Travelled well, edged ahead final furlong, ridden out. Battled well here and remains with potential.
