RIP to Sala and the pilot, but you're spot on Higgins. JWOTS seemed more interested in telling the message he got from Cardiff, as Mr Contacts.

Obvious point to make and may be slaughtered for it but the death of a immigrant from Somalia or Syria barely gets a mention.
But this death will dominate the media for many days.
Clearly the death of someone in the public eye will attract more attention.
But the disparity in how one death is more important than another death is pretty sickening.

It's the story, not the death. I don't think many normal people would rank death in terms of importance. The circumstances of this particular one is the story.

Re: Cardiff striker missing
Sad news for all who knew him but, and it might seem a bit uncaring, but I'm surprised at the outpouring of grief and well wishes directed to Cardiff where, a few staff apart, no-one knew the lad.
I'm sure his friends, colleagues and everyone connected to Nantes will be feeling the loss more.
This thread's from a site I often pop in to and some seem to think it ice on the wings is a possible cause.

Nantes fans held a vigil tonight: https://www.theaustralian.com.au/video/ ... el-islands
And yes, Shedboy, as per the PPRuNe link above, they think an ice situation. But a bit queer about the flight at night.
I wil never fly a single prop plane or a helicopter, despite their decent safety record, they just scare me too much.

Re: Cardiff striker missing
I'm just thinking in general with footballers...do they have aversions to flying in first class on regular planes with experienced and competent pilots?
Helicopters and plane crashes recently must have given some food for thought. No method of transport is 100% safe but private flights can be more risky, especially if a pilot thinks they are a "little rusty."

Re: Cardiff striker missing
Well you certainly wouldn’t get first class on such a short route. Amazed that they didn’t use a business jet, ie a Learjet, Gulfstream etc... A single engine prop aircraft on such a long distance across the sea and in bad weather all seems rather risky in hindsight.
