Formula One 2019

Post by Two Crows »

I'm missing my Formula One.

So to fill the void I viewed a few YouTube F1 clips and came across this gem from the 2003 British GP when some clown ran on the track. I remember watching it live and being horrified at the time, but since no one was hurt I now find it hilarious. This clown decides to play chicken with cars touching 200mph down the hanger straight, lord knows what his gripe was. It looked to me like Pizzonia give him a little manoeuvre just before the guy was hurled off the track. :P

The teams decided to take advantage of the safety car being deployed and it's marvellous to see so many of these beautiful machines in the pits at the same time mid-race.

Wets my appetite for the new season. 8)

German commentary.

Tobacco advertising is back! Sort of. Apparently Ferrari have a car this year. Personally I think it's bullshit.

New season will begin under a cloud.

Formula One safety director Charlie Whiting 66, whose work in the sport saved many from injury and death died suddenly in Melbourne one day before the beginning of the new 2019 F1 season in Australia.

RIP.

Yeah, just heard. Such a shame – seemed a level-headed chap, the sort of calm presence you need in F1 :(

Currently sat in glorious Sunshine at the first corner of the Albert Park circuit. Should be a good weekend.

Sad news

I think they are planning some sort of tribute, but yes, a dark cloud

People on some of the forums mentioning his brother, who was allegedly (i have no idea) shot, stabbed and killed on the essex marshes circa 1990....

2 people with the same start in life on totally different paths

RIP Charlie, did a lot for the sport

amazing innit, made me like motor racing again, doubt I'll be bothering with the F1 this season, its probably the most pathetic "sport" in the world right now. Watching the same cars race away from everyone else with fake overtaking is a worse spectacle than watching paint dry.
