Cricket (General)

Post by Zambo »

No such think as a moral cricket law. If you're out you're out, there is nothing controversial about it. Shocking behaviour my Aunt Frances.

Jos Butler was run out in a home ODI against Sri Lanka a few years back. Looks like he's learned nothing.

Even playing Middlesex League back in the late 70's, even though you might walk forward as the bowler entered his delivery action, you ALWAYS kept your bat grounded.

You also oriented your body so that you could watch the bowler release the ball. At that point, you could lift you bat and move it forward.

I've never understood how professional batsmen can be so sloppy as JB was last night.

Yes, it's a form of cheating to leave your crease before the ball has been released by the bowler, looking to give yourself a better chance of reaching the other end before the wicket keeper gets possession of the ball.

Jos was in his crease when the bowler came in to bowl. The bowler deliberately stopped his run and then waited for Jos to move. The bowler had no intention of bowling that ball. It should've been called dead ball by the umpire.

f this is what the ICC intended with the change in the law, then we will see this happen in lots of matches this IPL and presumably then on into the world cup. Still, good to see a brilliant piece of batting ended by someone who couldn't get a wicket in any proper manner.

Bairstow and Curran in sensational form in the last couple of days. 10 years ago we didn't have a player deemed good enough to play in it.

Fine little last wicket stand by Pakistan. The rear guard has defended over 5 overs ,they were 220-9 at 40 overs.

Blimey, Headingley starting to look like a cricket ground rather than one proping up a Rugby League stand. And what's this, a straw coloured track.

The bowling in this series has been total shite from both teams, but there has been plenty of bonking the ball around to entertain the crowd.

Woakes again proving why he should always be selected, but will continue to be overlooked at times in favour of lesser players.

Bitter, much?
He's a very good one-day player, Zambo, no doubt about it.
But this agenda of yours is embarrassing.
Oh, and care to name these lesser players?

Goes for tests as well.

Here's four for starters, and his batting is better than all of them put together. They'll all be rolled out for the WC though, and Woakes will be left watching

Plunkett
Wood
Willey
Jordan

Nah. Woakes will be in the squad, no question.
Jordan won't be.

He hardly played in the Pakistan series. Be amazed if he makes the squad.

Afghanistan bowler Noor Ahmad uses the contentious 'Mankad' dismissal to run out Pakistan's Mohammad Huraira at the Under 19 Cricket World Cup.
The Mankad is where a bowler looks for a non-striking batsmen to leave his crease, feigns a run-up and takes off the
bails at the non-strikers end.

The dismissal is known as a 'Mankad' after India bowler Vinoo Mankad ran out Australia batsman Bill Brown in 1947.
In March 2019, lawmakers the MCC said the 'Mankad' was not 'in the spirit of the game' following the dismissal of Jos Buttler in an IPL match.
