Isn't Stokes a major injury doubt?

PS A tad more serious than the nonsense above, I have 2 questions, possible for Zambo;

1. Why don't the West Indies batsmen play forward against Broad and Curran. Seems to me, they are waiting for the executioner's blow by staying either on their crease or playing back, especially when the ball is moving and especially when the new ball has been taken.

2. How do batsmen like Stokes play with their top hand around the top of the bat. Although I played with guys that used that grip, some extremely successful, whenever they do the slo-mo, Stokes' bat looks skewed around in his hands. Very odd.
1. I was always swaying towards the front foot when the bowler released, then if short, you could switch the weight to the back foot. Back foot should not be the first movement imo, it often leaves you too much to do with a good length ball.

2. I'd go with whatever grip suits, but having the right hand round the handle would feel awkward and uncomfortable for me, and how he plays some of the shots he does with that grip, is as you say very odd.
A more forensic look at Stokes' grip showed to me that actually, it's his bottom hand which seems to be much further around underneath the handle and not the top one.

Whichever way he holds it, it's a blinding case of the obvious to say that the grip works for him, but it does!

Graham Smith, the SA captain had an odd grip like this too. Tends to favour leg side hitting, apparently.

In the WI team, opener John Campbell looked like a good batsman with what I would call a sensible grip, making the swing path easier to execute. He hit a couple of really good off drives.

Turned the match for us with three wickets in each innings.
And chipped in with 11 handy runs, unlike Woakes, who was out for a golden duck

11 runs

Woakes 5-76
Broad 6-108

Foster was clearly the top contributor in the 2nd test, to try and big up Broad as No1 just shows the usual amount of cricket knowledge you display.

I always get Ben Foster and Ben Stokes mixed up, even after one minute of correcting myself

With the rotation policy in operation for the bowlers, It's Archer and Anderson for Broad and Woakes on friday. Any player throwing a tantrum should be shown the door pronto.
There's no poem, just prose.

Are you referring to Broad when you're talking about tantrums?
He just said he was hacked off at being left out, which any good pro would say.
Would you prefer it if he just laughed and said he wasn't bothered? Then you'd be straight in here questioning his commitment and PASSHUN.

I really can't warm to Rob Key as a commentator. Nick Knight is just meh like he is always was/is. The new woman (Brent?) is better than Guha.

Atherton and Hussain still the best around, Michael Holding class (apart from his Sibley rant) and Ian Bishop is a good old pro.
