If Smith hadn't been a complete arsehole his entire life maybe things would be different

If by "you lot" you mean English cricket-fans then you're entirely mistaken.
If you mean football-fans going to their first ever game of cricket because they just want to be in the Barmy Army then you're entirely correct.

Whoever booed a concussed man. Terrible behaviour.

If the shoe was on the other foot, the Aussie crowd would do the same. Remember the stick Broad got and that was just for not walking after nicking one to slip.

I'll hold my hands up, not a Scoobie.

I had a Daily Mail moment read the headline and 700 years of hurt came over me.

Mon the Aussies though

Smith has a bat in his hands, he also should know by now that if you take your eye off the ball you don't know where it's going. He's a prolific run scorer, but his technique will get him into trouble.

He didn't even nick it to slip.
He edged behind to Haddin, who deflected it to slip.
The behaviour of Lehmann and CA was a disgrace.

Indeed. Derek Underwood never got hit on the bonce cos he only wore a cap, and knew better than to look elsewhere.

My point was that it was just a few of them. I'm not in charge of the crowd-effect microphones or the camera-selection, but the people who are don't always reflect the mood of the crowd as a whole or English cricket-fans as a whole.

I'll draw a comparison with when Smith scored one of his centuries. The director focussed on the Aussies in the crowd applauding, ignoring the fact that everyone, including the English, were also applauding. It wouldn't kill Sky, or whoever, to show that, but they never do.

Was at Australia v Bangladesh in the WOC. Warner got booed to the pitch, but more applause than boos when got ton, 150 and was out and waved his bat to all sides.

Just watched the Bumble being hit in the balls by Jeff Thomson at Perth video. No helmet, not even wearing a cap, no armguard and the flimsiest of boxes

Perth track was one of the quickest in the world back then, too…

Great first day. Now the batsmen must do their job tomorrow. Need a good size lead.

Why were there so many breaks?

Not the rain breaks, but the endless breaks between overs which seemed to last several minutes?

Yep. Hopefully the sun will be out and the ball won't move around as much :)

Viv Richards tells a great story about Brian Close when he was captain of Somerset, lying in the changing room smoking a cigarette and not batting an eyelid while a doctor extricated his battered and bleeding genitals from one of those crushed boxes.

He also remembers him driving on the motorway while smoking and reading The Racing Post. 8)

I think Botham and Richards described him as the toughest man they have ever met.
