Andy Murray retirement

Post by theleader82 »

I think Murray would be better of retiring then failing to come back from hip surgery. He couldn’t compete with the top trio when fit so what hope does he have now . A big part of his game was scrambling around the court , and I don’t think his body is up to that now. He should’ve proud of what he’s achieved . I imagine his sponsors want him to carry on

Greatest sportsman from these islands, not a chance he's retiring anytime soon.

I've always had a soft spot for AM; his refusal to play the media-game of being "a character" but being himself at all times and a bit boring and monotone. Not all sportsmen can be Ali. He's a tennis-player, not an all-round entertainer.
What always put me off him was the likes of Brazil ... "He's no' British, he's Scottish!" Well, have him, then.

I'll be sorry to see him go, truth be told, but none of us live forever.

I'd like to see a Murray renaissance. I think he could still be competitive.

We had to wait 77 years for a British Wimbledon Men's champ. Imagine not seeing another one until 2093.
Looks like we have a similar wait for a Ladies winners too.

I'm totally with you on the greatest British sportsman of all time there Kev . I believe had he played in any other era , he'd have won many more slams .

However i feel frustration will soon set in that he can't get back to 100% fitness for what is needed to get back to the very top and i fear he'll walk away .

Just to win 3 Grand Slams in this era is remarkable. Hoped he would change his mind about not going to Tokyo in next year's Olympics.

Stick to telling us how good Milos Raonic is or at least watch Murray play before you post this garbage.
Okay, you had to be up for 3.30 am to watch, but Murray looked good today. He just needs more matches to get his fitness levels going and his sharpness back. It's his second match after major surgery and 7 months out the game ffs.

He's playing because he loves the game and because he wants to attempt a come back. I wish him all the luck in the world.
