I am amazed that United have been so fixated on getting Sancho that they could get to the start of the season with such a weak back four and goal keeper.
Palace played well but really Zaha and Ayew really are not top-class and they could be shredded by a more effective front line.

The problem with Maguire is that his lack of pace restricts the team. You need a quick player alongside him to cover or have a defensive midfielder who will sit and protect. I think his reputation was enhanced by having Ndidi in front of him chasing, harrying, winning the ball. It also allowed Maguire to stride forward, pass the ball well and have some license to play.
