Never been convinced by the hype- plays attacking football but can't organise a defence and some of his expensive signings have been terrible.

Dyche's football is awful to watch and horrible to play against, he's got more substance than Howe as a manager.

Would you say Mr Rodgers is similar to Mr Howe? ... Lots of hype, plays attacking football but can't organise a defence

I like Dyche. Solid manager

Plenty of hype but I'd disagree with the attacking football- at times we're so lacking in threat it's painful to watch. We've been very good at thrashing demoralised or numerically disadvantaged teams but not good at all at winning tight games.

From the last game of the season, and I appreciate you had a few injuries, but the reliance on Vardy to make the system work is glaring. If you snuff out his threat, which Lindelof did brilliantly, then it’s apparent that there are no other ideas.

I’m no great fan of Perez and Iheanacho is fucking brainless.

The reliance on Vardy has been an issue for too long, he scored 23 goals from something like 77 shots- a brilliant ratio but also nowhere near enough shots, the service he gets is often poor.

No wonder Rodgers is forever saying how great he is- he's masking coaching issues.

JW, what's your take on Craig Shakespeare? Dean Smith spoke highly of him at the end of the season and there was talk we'd try to take him on as a coach or even DoF at Villa Park.

Really good coach, plenty of players have spoken highly of his methods and coaching style. Was a big part of the title-winning set up. Shouldn't have been the manager full time but no doubt he'd be a good choice on the backroom staff.

Think he may be staying, del. The joint-owner Wes Edens has the same model of multiple coaches in his American club. It’s something he’s keen on. There is a line of thinking though that this puts pressure on Dean Smith to deliver otherwise there is a ready made replacement in Shakespeare. Heard also that there may be a plan to bring Thomas Frank to Villa Park because of his association with Villa’s new DoF Johan Lange.

I mean yikes!
