Phone charger left on

Post by theleader82 »

I left my phone charger switched on at work at the mains and the building is closed until
Monday. I'm worried it might cause a fire , or is the charge minimal. I think I've read stories of them overheating

Cheap Chinese alternatives to the proper versions are the dangerous ones.
Same as those two quid extension leads with eight outlets.

I wouldnt worry that much. You only hear of the ones that go fire because, well, they go on fire. You will never hear of the other 9 or 10 million left on for a fucking age every day that dont go up in flames.

Of course if the place is cindered and everyone is out of work and out on their arse, well its one hundred percent your fault. All your doing, no one elses, not Lash, not nobody else, you, you bastard!

In the unlikely event of the building burning down ISIS will "claim responsibility", so you're in the clear.

Fuck, I hope you don't work in New Ferry.
The “huge” explosion on Wirral which left two people seriously injured and destroyed several buildings is now an official police investigation.

leader, it may be worth asking if the electric sockets have RCD protection , in which case the worse is that it trips a circuit breaker.

Probably.

At this minute he is staring at a charred melted plug and lead being waved in front of him by an angry fire officer as his fellow (ex) work colleagues - some weeping - rummage about the now damp charred detritus that once was their workplace, seeking whatever personal effects they can salvage.

Earlier on Sunday March 26, a spokesperson for the National Grid confirmed that their engineers had been called out to reports of a gas leak the day before the explosion - but at the time found no issues.

They said: “The cause of this explosion is still under investigation and it is too early to confirm but we believe that an over-heated small electrical device like a phone charger may have caused it.

“National Grid Gas Distribution Emergency Engineers were called at 9.15pm on Saturday, March 25 to a report of an explosion in Boundary Road.

“We were called to a report of a smell in Bebington Road on Friday evening (March 24) which we investigated and no trace of gas was found.

“We also received several other reports of a smell from across the wider area and our emergency engineers investigated all these reports and found no indication of a gas leak.

“There are no indications that any of these reports were connected to yesterday’s explosion.”
