Re: Firewall - stopping incoming emails

What I'd do is go into the settings (firewall - application control - settings - view programs) and delete every single entry regarding email - and there may be more than one - mine likes to add multiple entries for stuff. Then when your email prog does anything zone alarm should ask you whether to allow or block (assuming you have your zone alarm set to behave this way, there are other settings to just decide for itself what's safe and what isn't.)

Cheers Laa, I use an email app to manage my emails from my webmail email provider. I went into ZA, Firewall, basic firewall, in log viewer there were a load of entries blocked showing ip addresses. I looked up the ip and it was my email provider (IMAP). I just clicked on and said these were OK.

All now working fine. Thanks for your help

eM Client (free version). There are some restrictions like you can only have two accounts, but it's ok for my needs. I was using something called Incredimail for ages, put they pulled it so had to look for a new one.

This and Mailbird looked the best for me, but Maibird withdrew their free version.

Cheers.

Have you ever tried Thunderbird?

I've used it a lot and have no complaints. It's totally free and from Mozilla the same people who do Firefox.

I remember asking around my mates who were a lot more techy savvy than me, and I remember them saying was a decent app, but said something about Thunderbird no longer being supported my Mozilla.

It's kind of half-and-half really. They still have an interest in it and it gets regular updates.

Anyways, lots of different progs out there for everyone.
