Re: Chernobyl
Finished watching it last night. Brilliant program
Actually learnt a bit about nuclear fusion as well. Very educational, they should put it on just after blue peter
The Russian version should be interesting. Not sure how exactly they are planning on blaming the CIA for it though

That's hardly surprising given the amount of Godzilla attacks since the early 50's.

Re: Chernobyl
Just finished watching the final programme in the mini series last night. Very well made and ultimately very depressing about how the explosion to reactor four was allowed to happen, the state cover up, lack of adequate investigation and complete indifference of the authorities. What we don't know and will never know if the true figure of those who were killed both in the immediate aftermath of the explosion and those who died from radiation years later. You just got to hate what the Communist Party and it's entire apparatus stood for.

Re: Chernobyl
Indeed
Although do you think if such a thing had happened here or in the US there would not have been attempts at a cover-up?

I don’t follow what you’re asking. Can you give any examples of an equivalent natural disaster which has happened during the Cold War in western countries?

I suppose Three Mile Island is the nearest equivalent nuclear 'accident' in the US: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Mil ... d_accident But not equivalent in the cover up stakes. TMI rated 5/7 on the International Nuclear Event Scale, Chernobyl and Fukuishima rated 7/7: ttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Nuclear_Event_Scale
