As someone who has actually spent some time in Los Angeles I can tell you that it really is a cesspool of human depravity and desperation. The smog that layers the city isn't actually produced from car exhausts it's caused from the perspiration of desperation. It forms a fine mist and covers your windscreen.

I've never felt more of a sense of loneliness and isolation than walking down Hollywood Blvd. When you walk through even the most desperate parts of South London there is still a vague sense of hope and vitality. LA has none of that. It is a complete confection and fabrication of life. It's horrible and desperate.

I've never been to Las Vegas because I just know it is even worse. For a man of my sensitive temperament it would finish me off. Yes, yes, I know you are now considering sending me a one-way flight to Vegas. Fuck off. ;)

I think my point, finally, is that: Any woman/girl planning to 'make-it' in Hollywood deserves all she gets. It's a fucking shithole and old Harvey is just one of the many rich **** that flush the toilet.

You are spot on Carc. First went there in '96 and it was a thriving happy place, and it was great fun to be there. Have been back twice since then, last time 2015 it's it is, to quote the American President, a complete and utter shithole. Aggressive begging, dollar shops, hoards of tourists taking pictures of any thing that moves or doesn't. The Chinese Theatre area is a run down tip.

Vegas exactly the same, people hassling you to buy time shares, almost naked tarts asking if you want your photo taken with them. Will never go back to either.

The Larry Nassar case is interesting one which will ponder.

Noted and correctly termed, he is paedo scum. Sentenced to 60 years in nick on plea bargain for over 37k images of child abuse: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-42271218

He also admitted to seven charges of sexual assault against women and girls in his care: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-42083977

So in sentencing, we have victim statement witnesses from others who were not involved in the case, accusing a man in court for offences that have not been proven in a court of law. Over a hundred will give their testimony: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-42709482

WTF is this? Victim statements are for those involved, though as per, I think they are wrong. Sentencing should be according to the law, do not emotion get involved.

Anyway, so all these Victims impact statements, Judge loving the meeja: https://www.thedailybeast.com/larry-nas ... -too-harsh

How can there be 1 victim statement, let alone lots to a person who has not been convicted of those offences? Note Biles has got involved with accusations, the court of twatter rules: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/gymnastics/42710921

Yes, but Carlos, it makes wammen feel powerful. That's the important thing. For too long wammen have been paid the same and treated exactly the same as men. And this simply isn't good enough. Now whenever a wammen turns on the television, she must hear an affirming story about how hard done by she is.

Simply bizarre, landlord, that maybe victims, but not proven by a court of law are allowed to give victim impact statements. That triggers something in me.

It's some kind of fucked up agenda, that's for sure.

While this geezer us evidently some sort of mega deviant, and I see the point of people who he's fucked up lining up to call him a cunt, I fail to see why that can't be done in private, he's already been publicly humiliated by being outed as a massive paedo.

This isn't about him being a paedophile in the media's eyes though. This about empowering women. It's being treated as those he's sexual harassed them, and how brave these WOMEN are to stand up to him, as women. Where the actual point is he abused them as kids, and it's doesn't matter the sex of the child, they got nonced, and it's brave of them because of their noncedness. It is so far away from a feminist issue it's unreal.

But those poor, hard done by women, eh? Always getting paedo'd.

Nasser sent down for up to 175 years: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-42811304

Aside as above the child porn charges he already got for 60 years for, this is for the seven guilty pleas and three more guilty pleas of sexual assault.

So 10 confirmed victims and 156 people gave victim statements: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-42725339

See the first link for again IMO the Judge grandstanding.

An Open Secret. A film looking at abuse in Hollywood

Post by carcinogen »

In light of the long awaited revelations of sexual abuse in Hollywood finally being reported ESPONDA PRODUCTIONS presents AN OPEN SECRET for free for a limited time . A film about the sexual abuse of children in the entertainment industry in Hollywood.

An Open Secret (PG13)

The reason this film is free is because the film-makers want as many people to see it as possible. I haven't watched it yet but I've heard it is quite bleak.

Yeah, carc. I mentioned it here on page 15 as will merge this post:
Carlos J wrote:God, this could go on a number of topics. Haven't watched in full yet. Though released in 2014, was re-released online last month after the Weinstein allegations started, see Mr Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Open_Secret. See Mail after release: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -York.html

Bryan Singer mentioned, has had allegation made before, directed Spacey in 'The Usual Suspects'. That means nothing itself, but hey: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/b ... ase-699828

Still haven't watched in full, though will over the weekend. Just seeing the start, going to watch those two 'Diff'rent Strokes' episodes, which are online:

Saw this when looking for them, an interesting article, not child abuse dominated but about US TV shows: http://www.cracked.com/article_19401_5- ... edies.html

Interesting watching those 'Diff'rent Strokes' episodes. Sure an obvious wrong 'un viewed with todays eyes or any eyes in reality and slightly exaggerated for TV purposes as grooming ain't a few days.

Good that they did it, had to use 'stranger danger' as the most common child abuse, family, would have fucked the programme.

Will have time to watch the film later this morning.
