A modern tune, and well known, but a short time before her death, when my mum was staying with us, I was watching the Ken Burns series on the US civil war and every time when this tune was played she took off her glasses and put down her pen and crossword book, which she always had around in a vain attempt to disguise her incroaching dementia, and remarked what a beautiful tune this was.

Some months later after her suicide because of the despair of her failing faculties, five years ago at the start of this month, I had this played at her funeral.

Now If you'll excuse me now, lads, I'm out. I've had drink taken.

Some magnificent songs in here, and lovely but sad about your dear mum, Bas.

I'll check out those links, Carlos.

A nice Orcadian man singing a lovely wee, simple song.

Bas, I love that Tell Me Ma version by Van the Man, there's The Sash in there at the end. One of the best comments on YT is ''This is what I call cross-community'' :)

And lovely for your ma, Bas.

Not Cheesy at all, but IMO, more bewtiful, Kevin. This for any football fan is glorious:

And allow me one more Pizzica. Shame IMO, the best ever is on a BBC show, but not available. Serena is bewtiful. Look at her feet, just look at her feet as Barry Davies did not say:

Why would anyone subject themselves to 'folk' and 'americana'???

Horrible, horrible genres.
