Re: 5 yrs since Rik Mayall died
I've only cried at three deaths - my father, Pavel Srnicek and Rik May all.
All went far far too early.

Five years since Adrian Durham got his manbag nicked while wearing a gay flowery shirt in Brazil
Five years since Alan Brazil played beach footie with the kids from the favelas. I wonder if he still thinks about them ?
(when he's quaffing Moet in the corporate box at Ascot).

Five years too since the fragrant Lady Brady’s legislators nearly had the forum closed down.

His Alan B'Stard remains the highpoint of his work...
That character was eerily prescient for today's flash Tory boy wannabes. Except B'Stard was genuinely clever whilst this current mob of Tory leadership hopefuls are thick.
I still miss the guy..

His inspiration was a combination of Tebbits attitude & the Bradley Hardacre from Brass character he said when peed up one night , then it changed the next night it was because he was a "actor" by then , crazy fker at times ,but then very quiet too , at weddings sat there had few photos etc but kept saying people always tell me if i look like Rik Mayall ...... & laughed

Five years? Blimey. I was at a work event in Malvern. I remember this as one of the journos there was visibly upset by the news.

Still miss the mad B'Stard
I have greatest respect for Rugby Union, they started it mid-way through the 19th century. Thankfully we grabbed it and turned it into a spectacle on 29th August 1895
