As my mate skipped through the tracks all we said was..

"WELL THAT SOUNDS LIKE T-REX, THE BEATLES, NEW SEEKERS ETC."

We genuinely thought they were taking the piss. It sounded like a shit tribute album from K-Tel.

Probably true, but you have to put it in to the context of the time.
The biggest "indie" bands at the time were JAMC and Ride, proper shoe-gazers.
Oasis, whatever you may think of them, were positive.
Not my favourite Manc band by a mile, but they could write a tune.

They could rip off other people's tunes, yes...

They never denied it, bands before them did.

If you're playing four chords you'll always sound like somebody else.

In their heyday they wrote better b-sides than most bands a-sides, and I'm not a big fan of theirs.

I heard Noel Gallagher in an interview one time and he acknowledged thus fact.

He said "we can't improve on what The Beatles or the Stones did so we don't even try....we just make music that people seem to enjoy".
Alex Young, Howard Kendall, Andy King, Timmy Cahill, Dixie Dean and Mike Parry.....we'll never see the likes of them again.

I agree with that.

Definitely Maybe & What's The Story are genuinely good albums, imo

After these, not so good.

What's The Story is one of my all time favourite albums.

For a Debut album Definitely Maybe Is up there with the very best
I have greatest respect for Rugby Union, they started it mid-way through the 19th century. Thankfully we grabbed it and turned it into a spectacle on 29th August 1895

I’ve just got back from seeing Liam in a room which holds 1500 people.

Never his biggest fan but fucking hell, that was utterly magnificent. Set list was spot on. His new stuff is not great but for somebody who gets stick from his brother for not writing the Oasis songs, he sure as fuck owns them.

10/10. Best gig I’ve been to in ten years plus. Bravo.

Isn't a Liam Gallagher gig just a massive Oasis karaoke for cunts?

I saw them a couple of times in their mid / late 90's pomp and they were always a bet meh for me.
A joyless arsehole.

Bit harsh but I’d say there’s a fair amount of truth in that.

You take what you get from it and I thought he was excellent. Might be as I was stood down the back whilst assembled cunts did their thing up front. Lots of ‘lads’ on other ‘lads’ shoulders was a strange sight. Probably the size of the venue but I enjoyed more than Maine Road, Knebworth, Earls Court, Finsbury Park, Wembley and everywhere in between.
