Unpopular opinion: Gervais conned us all; he played to the gallery, and such comedy is merely tepid. Hollywood has benefited from this.

Hmmm. Sure, Gervais' speech wasn't Bill Hicks' level of genius but I still enjoyed it.

Amazing to think where his podcast has gone from those days and that theme tune done by Redman and Garage Band.

Rogan said he would have Trump on, imagine that. Trump telling Jamie to pull up that pic of Turnberry! Trump firing into some Caveman Coffee and them laughng at Clinton for twenty minutes, episode finishes with Rogan and DJT agreeing to go elk hunting some day. :)

Robert Downey Jr is now on the podcast. As you say, his podcast has blown up amazingly in the past 2-3 years.

I tend to pick and choose - you probably have to with 2-3 hr episodes. Fell asleep over the Michael Mallice one last night, was pretty funny - Are you woke? I am never asleep! :D Mallice was saying he will get messages and massive bumps in his website numbers after apperance.

Going on Rogan is a bit like going on Carson or Leno back in the day.

You could see him doing both presidential candidates (maybe not Trump, rather Trump not doing it thatn Rogan rejecting it) but he's that influential.

First few episodes this year have been great.

Joey Diaz is my favourite. Never get bored of his stories.

Uncle Joey.

Always seen him propping up as an extra in a film now and again. Watched The Longest Yard last weekend and there he was playing the fat man with a few a lines.

You’re kidding?

Bill Hicks, or Carc as he is now known, is not and never was a genius.

He was a deluded, condescending twat who thought he was a genius - no crime in itself, but he was also boring, unintelligent and unfunny, and hence a dreadful comedian.

Many modern comedians are 'condescending twats' – Gervais, Carlin (d. 2008), Chappelle, just to name a few.
Unintelligent and unfunny? Reincarnated as Carc? I disagree. Bill Hicks, who formulated a new genre of alternative comedy, was ahead of his time. Marketeers should kill themselves!   His monologues are relevant today more than ever.

Bill Hicks at The Oxford Playhouse, 11 November 1992:
How many people disapprove of the job the Conservatives are doing? Seventy percent. Of those same people, how many will vote for them again? ...Seventy percent. What the fuck? Where did they take this poll, at an S&M parlour?

I just find him boring, thick, condescending and unfunny.

Others find him illuminating and hilarious.

Humour’s a personal thing, and we’re all different.

Agree that humour is personal. If you feel condescended maybe that says more about you? :D

It's as difficult to understand as the likes of Lee Evans filling the O2.

Now, there's someone I never understood or found funny.
Just seems to be a chap who charges round the stage, shouting and sweating a lot.
