I do like old Kerouac and have read more of his. Working class guy, met the above two, relationships and blah. 'Others may slag 'On the Road', but it is still a great book on the great US hope. You want a hard read, still going with this:
Not read any Derrida or Barthes, but you want old French philiosopy, as per, one of my top 5 books. Diderot's 'Jacques The Fatalist'. Still a magnificent read:
