I noted that there was a Royal Shakespeare Company production on TV, and considered watching it . Until I read the review and description.

This is part of the basic plot as described.
This version set in a West African state, which buzzes with more light, music and bright colours than your average doomy XXXXX.
Returning home after receiving his degree, X is slighted by his uncle ……………

I've seen Othello at the RSC set in Africa with an all black cast.
