Some gem episodes in the original series, though: The Menagerie, The City on the Edge of Forever, The Trouble with Tribbles, Arena.

When you think of when 2001 was made, when there was no CGI, it's remarkable how good it is.
The sequence where the shuttle is docking with the space station was just airfix models and a black velvet backdrop.

Yeah, watched it recently and it still stands up well. Got quite into Kubrik recently. Barry Lyndon is highly recommended (not sci-fi though).
