Great Album
+1

criminally underrated.
Imagine a vaccine so safe you have to blackmailed into taking it, for a virus so deadly you have to be tested to know if you have it.

That was their second album. Homework was their first, in 1997.

The Damned were, and still are, one of the most underrated bands of all time.

Utterly brilliant.

Remember buying New Rose from the Rock On stall in Soho Market when it came out. 8)

Couldn't agree more, Reg, except I bought my New Rose from Costless Records in Wood Green.

Odd to think of it now, but in those days you had to go to specific places to get records. It was a private grapevine.

Remember when the Pistols were doing SPOTS and that kind of thing mates would phone and say I’ve heard there’s a gig here or there, and you’d end up in some godforsaken place as a 16 year old, and have to walk home in a cold sweat-soaked shirt because you couldn’t afford a night bus.

In those days parents weren’t taxi drivers. :)

I was a bit too young to get into those private gigs. My best mate's older brother was a different case though. He used to go to Le Beat Route and introduced us to bands like Spandau and A certain Ratio long before they were heard of. His band, Distorted Images (terrible) supported Infa Riot (also terrible) a couple of times. My first gig was funnily enough the Damned at the Electric Ballroom as part of their tour in '78.

:D

I wasn't part of some in-crowd unfortunately, it was just a case of seeing someone with short hair and straight strides and you immediately became friends, and then there was a network. I met up with a couple of the so-called "Bromley Contingent". It was a weird time, when you could meet a friend or get attacked just for the way you dressed. It's odd how everyone thinks of the 1970s now - in reality it was mental and very violent.

Totally agree
I have greatest respect for Rugby Union, they started it mid-way through the 19th century. Thankfully we grabbed it and turned it into a spectacle on 29th August 1895
