The guy is a legend, always will be. Just a couple of minutes into Villa’s match against Sheffield Wednesday towards the end of the last millennium, he leant into a header and broke his vertebrae. For such a significant injury where he would never play again, he came back to play weeks ahead of schedule and to a rapturous applause.

He said on the injury when he was lying in the ambulance, the first thing he thought of was whether he would see his children again. He’s a really lovely fella and a great laugh. Great commentary in yesterday’s Marine vs Spurs game where he said that Klopp had moved house during the game meaning that the lifelike cutout of the Liverpool had been moved by a supporter down to the back of number 21. Great stuff.

He will always be a hero of mine, schools boys own stuff seeing him score at Wembley and ultimately get his big money move to Manchester United.

But, he was fucking dreadful on commentary yesterday, light hearted at times which was okay, but he’s obviously got himself into TV presenter levels of stating the obvious.

Used to live in Stratford for years. Saw him out on the town with Matt Dawson of all people a few times. An alright bloke.

He grew up on Burnmoor St which is adjacent to Filbert St and at the age of 35 came home for a much anticipated debut against West Ham in the hope he'd lead us to promotion.

He was sent off after 20 minutes

Have vague memories of queuing overnight for play off final tickets with my brother in law around that area in 1992. Brazil street maybe? Warm night and fond memories apart from rocking up to Wembley for that Cov bastard Speedie diving to spoil the day. However, got to see Bobby Moore in person as guest of honour and Gary Mills played a blinder.
