If you work in sorting-office then you NEED to go postal; otherwise, yeah.

'The Hunt for a Killer'. BBC4 and all on iPlayer. Not Nordic Noir. But a grim true crime drama.

Just watched all six of 'The Chestnut Man' on Netflix. As a lover of Nordic noir, it wasn't really Nordic noir and enjoyed it for a long while as meshing crime and politics as S1 of 'The Killing' did, but not half as well and no Troels Hartmann.

It was building up quite nicely but got too fantastical. A Carlos 6.5/10

Spoiler alert:
Spoiler:
It was Pep wot did it.
Read the book of 'Battle Royale' before watching the film and both fantastic. Avoided all 'Hunger Games'. Pondering 'Squid Game' as another rip off as might give it a go:

Battle Royale was too bloody to be showed in American Theatres. The book was tremendously sickening.
Squid Game was okay, but Battle Royale is the king of the genre.
Indeed old chap, but another on shite reddit correctly points out 'Battle Royale' had no games. Which it didn't.

Anyway:

Do you need to read the Battle Royale book before seeing the film?

Not at all ant, it is a great film. You just see different if read the book then see the film characters in your mind differently. You never have to read the books before but I like to if a decent book.

'The Shining', 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', 'A Clockwork Orange' for example, read before seeing. But even not, they are fantastic films.

'Catch 22'. That is a catch 22, the book is sublime as is the film. 'Naked Lunch' did an OK adaptation, ditto 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas', but the books are better.

Do not read 'Heart of Darkness' though if expecting 'Apocalypse Now', though both are excellent. :D

Most queer how I managed to read so many books as a younger man during prime sex, drugs and rock and roll time, but hey we overcome.

So bad now and so many books on the shelf needing reading. :?

I tried reading Catch-22 but couldn't get into it. I'm currently reading Koestler's Darkness At Noon — the suspense, lol.
