Clayton must have been on the phone and asked him to tone it down, now he says it’s just “pantomime” and of course Smith is brilliant. GOA = Widow Twanky

Heard my old school colleague (GOA) say this yesterday and wondered if he has had us all over the years, not really meaning it when he lives out the perfect model of a glass half full attitude.

Before he came out with the pantomime admission, I was wondering how one man could live his life with such appalling bitterness.

Then he said it's all a sham and I smiled. GOA, he's had us all, hook, line and sinker.

Except he doesn't seem aware of the length of the pantomime season. If he wants to be in pantomime, he should stick to December and January. If it's good enough for Biggins, it's good enough for GOA.

Can these and others get any further up RS's backside?

I have nowt against him at all but isn't he doing no more than you'd expect from a guy playing at the top of the PL, especially when playing lowly ranked sides like Bulgaria and Kosovo?

Unlike me, perhaps, but I find myself wanting to shout at the radio, 'Oh do fuck off' as I hear how he was 'unplayable', is now part of 'the elite', not to mention that he 'has a good chance of a ballon d'or'.

Isn't he a former Gilbraltan player?

Still, makes a change from him going on the Breakfast Show to repeat the same stuff about Man United each week.

Elliot Steel - the white bloke from London who thinks he's a black bloke from Jamaica - is on yet again today. Why?? He's not funny, he's not successful, he's not entertaining. Does his dad have a word with Hawksbee?

GOA boring us rigid with an anecdote from a Bunbury match he played in at the weekend. Who cares ?

TDP told HMRC that he personally books all the guests on the show so I suppose Mark Steel is calling in a favour, yes.

I guess Mark Steel's reverence for Thomas Paine stops short of endorsing his hatred of nepotism. At least his son has toned down that ridiculous accent this time - maybe someone slapped it out of him during his poorly-received Edinburgh Fringe sessions. Actually, just about everyone H&J plugged for Edinburgh had a 'mare - Phil Cornwell was a spectacular disaster, with unprecedented numbers of people walking out of his shows.

Cornwell. Not surprised. He always comes across as a tedious pain-in-the-arse when TDP books him.

At least we got Steel out of the way within the first 30 minutes. Can only improve now ….. OH CHRIST HE'S STILL ON !!!!

I assumed he was in character at first. About the only funny thing about him is the attempt to sound "street".

He's trying for the Tim Westwood Memorial Prize - doing pretty well too.

I think this is the second time I've heard Steele, it was a proper head's gone when I realised he was white.

Christ, he is still on.

GOA: 'Why would you want to stay in a place that doesn't want you? I don't get that'. Careful, Andy, TS is a-changing...

GOA forgetting that he predicted a 5-0 whitewash for the Ashes. Now he's pretending he was quite encouraged by performances he ranted about. And then they get a miserable-sounding Mirror bloke on, who refuses to agree with Boycott's view that the Aussies were a bit better, and then proceeds to list all the Aussies who were better in key positions. What a couple of stumps.
