Re: Rushden and Glendenning
Barry Irish with DK and DK bigging up his Oirishness again. Should be a far better show than usual but clicking off for the cricket.
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline.

Jiggins on talking about Arsenal trying to buy Tierney from Celtic saying fullbacks can't win a game
Must have missed how Trent Alexander Arnold and Robertson were so effective last season
Some of these "Journalists" haven't got a clue

Paul Jiggins doesn't have a clue. Unfortunately, given the new place in which the station resides, more of the Sun's clueless journalists will be on air.

Have all the Kelly clan moved back to Dublin? Heard him on with Parry yesterday saying his brother met his now wife on a bus to and from work/Dublin. Then a story of the uncles giving their hard-earned construction money to his dear auld mum who kept it/worried about it in a Quality Street tin over the weekend before going to the Anglo-Ireland (?) bank up some road down ol' London way on the Monday.
The 'plastic Paddy' thing is a bit unfair at times especially considering Kelly was born to two Irish parents albeit grewing up in London. And Pakistani, Indians, Carribeans seem to get away with the double-identity thing a lot more than the Irish do. I met a guy once who grew up 'Irish' somewhere near London, played GAA etc, - two Irish parents etc - and when he moved to Dublin, he was always referred to as English etc and he ended up going full-circle after a few years in Ireland, he started resenting the place for being so pig-headed about an accent. Feck knows if it was true, met him on a training course over two days.
Of course you'll never get more Irish than Taoiseach of Tonbridge Mr Townsend - who doesn't wear socks and chucks his trainers out every week (if mikeparry8 is to be believed).

Re: Rushden and Glendenning
Didn't hear the brother tale, Kevin but heard the London wages one.
Met a bloke on the train last year from Dublin. English accent, Irish parents and had moved back to live about an hour from Dublin. Said he had had no problems with the accent.

Re: Rushden and Glendenning
Don't think he had problems with the accent. Most folk were nice, just he grew up seeing himself as Irish etc and then goes there and his experience was when he said he was Irish too/most were like ''aye, right you are,''
Again probably bullshit, but I think it's tough for dual-citizens at times. You are stranger in both lands to a certain extent.

Kelly's stories of old Ireland get more risible with each passing week.

Understood, Kevin, but back to Danny Boy, he is not really a stranger in England. But true, times weren't always great for the Oirish here, with as Lydon's 'No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs.'
Danny grew up in a working family and as per him, uncles making loadsa coin in that London.
I like old DK, never, gone from the NME when started reading it, but was a fan old of Baker and Kelly and 'Under the Moon' and always struck me as a fair, though fat, old cove.
Also, this thread is good: https://talkforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=29245 And dear old Lou's response.
And in tribute to DK and his cunt old mate. The greatest call ever, Gordon and his bow tie. Nice mock visuals here: https://www.whoateallthepies.tv/retro/2 ... audio.html

Re: Rushden and Glendenning
I've said before, Cundy sans Stain, is not a bad listen. The Stain brings all down to Stain level. And that ain't good.
