The ironic thing about Saggers was, back in the day, his job on Radio Cambridge was to calm people down and coach them so they could do the elderly people slot without scaring people. Then he learnt how to be a competent broadcaster on sport. Then he signed to TS and became a raging loon. I hope he doesn't feel it's progress.

Saggers on with Michael Calvin. Hushed tones, deference, wise words from Sir Michael.

Marka Artarnartovic gone to China, apparently.

Calvin says the millennials don't have the allegiance to clubs that "we" once had. Didn't he change from Watford to Millwall?

Post Bosman, players also have freedom of contract.

For all the talk of loyalty pre 80's, how many of the players who stayed at one club a long time would have left had the clubs not held their registrations?

Even the great Bobby Moore was unhappy under Greenwood and would have left the Hammers earlier. In the end, he left when he was past his best and it was in the Hammers' interest to sell him.

Also, players moving on are now called mercenaries but those tags were never applied to the likes of Derek Dougan or Frank Large. They didn't move to earn huge sums, although they would have taken a 10% cut of any transfer which they did not request but loyalty, as such, really didn't exists other than the impression created by the fact that clubs held of players' registrations.

Lots of 'basically' from Professor Calvin.
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline.

Aha.

Yes, the player driven fan culture not the team.

That's what they are tapping into with the 100 in domestic cricket.
