Depends if its a dealer franchise or independent.

At the end of the day car dealers are salesmen. All they do is try to maximise commission so flogging you anything you don't want is top of the list.

I've never met a salesman I like or can stand for more than an hour.

An absolute joke. The dealer wants £568 for two services, Peugeot have a deal at £12.99 per month, that is £256 cheaper. It was so ridiculous I asked them to check it again.

So if franchised dealers can charge what they want, how do you get the Peugeot deal?

Chances are you wouldn't need it on a new motor anyway as the warranty normally covers it. Secondly there's always a good mechanic out there who can do what's needed when it's needed and not do things that aren't and who's every bit as good, if not better than main dealership rip off merchants.

Yeah. but mindful of protecting warranty. If I use anyone else apart from a Peugeot dealer, I have to ensure that they will follow Peugeot's maintenance procedure and use mfg parts.

You have to buy a package when you buy the car new. Or get scaffold poled.

Thanks for your input, but decided to take a fast track mechanics course.

Going straight in at level 5 IVQ Certificate in Motor Vehicle Systems.

A breeze, I already know where the bonnet catch is and release lever. Working on tyre valves, screen wash reservoir, and the bit where your pour the oil in this avro. Need to make sure I'm ready.

Have you done the bit where you grind off the "1.4" on the cylinder-head and fit it to a 1.8, when you've not got the right one handy?

Some astute comedy there Zambo.
Level 5 in painting and decorating is knowing how to open a tin of paint.

In motoring it's a little more advanced so level 1 goes up to identifying a car while level 2 specialises in correctly identifying things like wheels and doors.
