Erskine Might hounded-out

You'll get the gist quick enough. Feel free to vent about life's rich tapestry and how it pisses you off. But steer clear of other forum members or you will be the target of a virtual kick up the arse.

I genuinely don’t understand what you are so upset about.

I’ve no desire to see you leave the forum, and never sought to drive you away.

I’ve apologised for upsetting you, and there’s frankly nothing more I can do.

I will avoid interacting with you if that helps.

But if you can’t take a bit of criticism, you’d probably be happier on other, gentler forums.

I've never heard of any of these bigger forums. Are they any fun ?

If they are like Digispy, who needs to bow to sensitive humourless cunts who wield the banhammer at a drop of a hat at the first
off-colour joke or bants.
Where is the fun in that ?

Erskine Might wrote:Just for the record: 'Reg's claims are a pack of lies. He started provoking me out of nowhere (trace it back, it's a very simple empirical operation), I'd made no attempt to seek him out, he just decided to wind me up, and he kept going, and going, and going, and going. Look at the posts. No opinion needed - look at the posts.

Now, I've been a mod in much bigger forums and that's when you intervene. According to this forum's rules, that's where you intervene.

But no mod did.

So 'Reg' carried on. It's not a matter of opinion, look back at the exchanges.

So out of desperation, I put him on ignore. That's a pretty clear sign I wanted to end that nonsense, rather than him. But even then, every time I posted anything, a message saying 'Reg' had responded popped up. That's just sad.

At THAT point, mods should have intervened, very belatedly, to say to him, 'Look, either put him on ignore or grow up'. But they didn't.

Then mates of 'Reg,' like Jimmy, the compiler of those pisspoor clips - you DO have a thick skin, don't you, Jim? - joined in.

At that point, in a tiny forum, with no moderation, there's no point in continuing. That's not 'flouncing' or being 'thin-skinned' - it's just realising life's too short when one poster has been given impunity to wind up another one non-stop. What are you supposed to do? Seriously - what the hell are you supposed to do? You use the ignore facility and he's STILL at it. And that's MY fault??

You can keep lying about it but that's the truth, and, deep down, 'Reg's chums know full well they'd not stand for it if it happened to them rather than me. 'No big deal, says Reg's mate Jimmy - it would be if it was you. Or anyone else. It's a really crap way to run a forum.

All posts are not read by all mods, but I'd say that nearly all are read by at least one.

Obviously the ones which you refer to were not deemed to have broken any forum rules. If you thought some did and no action was taken, instead of whining about it, you should have reported the posts in question. You say you were a mod on a much bigger forum, so I must assume that you know the drill.

Why not report them now, and include the ones which contained abuse of another poster.

They're good clips of a piss-poor station.

I don't think you quite understand the nature of the "ignore" function. It doesn't make HIM ignore YOU, by magic.

Very bad treatment of Erskine IMO. He might be a sensitive soul but I do like to read his posts.

Trouble with this board is that whenever we have a new poster they invariably get picked on until they cave in and leave.

He wasn’t picked on.

I took the piss out of him a bit, and apologised when I realised he was upset.

No one else did anything, it was only me.

I have since apologised again.

But this is a forum for having a laugh and an argument, not a nursery school where nobody’s feelings are allowed to be hurt.

Most people on here have experienced far worse and not been bothered in the slightest.

Semi tongue in cheek post there Reg. Apologies proffered.

We all know you're a good sort and the offence was taken due to sensitivities the weak can't handle.

You'd be the last person on my list to dish out genuine malice and the first person to stand up against it.

I suspect the real problem here is somewhat different to that reported so far.

You may or may not know that Reg, a man known to 'have his fingers in numerous pies', has always fancied himself as a bit of a dentist. Not a man to worry about irrelevancies such as qualifications, he recently opened up a new practice in South London.

Poor old Erskine was his first patient:
