But he saved it all. Draw.

Game 6 from Friday, here's Jerry:

And Danny King:

An 80 move Petrov. Caruana had chances, Carlsen swapped a Knight for three pawns and saw out a draw.

Best of 12, first to 6.5 wins:

Carlsen 3 - 3 Caruana
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline.

The Guardian has, in its chess report, an interactive display where you can watch each move actually happening on a board, with a written commentary at the side. Very interesting, but I still don't really understand the game.

Yeah, VV, the Guard coverage has been great, following it when not watching.

Even if you can't follow much, try to watch a bit of Chess24 coverage just for a bit. Peter Svidler is great, and Sopiko and Grischuk.

Game 7 from Sunday. Jerry:

And Danny King:

As per game 2, a Queens Gambit Declined and as per game 2, a draw.

Best of 12, first to 6.5 wins:

Carlsen 3.5 - 3.5 Caruana

Seven consecutive draws from the start equals Carlsen v Karjakin in 2016. Karjakin then won game 8. The record draws from the start is Gazza Kasparov v dear Vishy Anand with 8 in 1995.

But despite the lack of action, as per, the tension ramps up each game. Surely Caruana will not want to go to blitz tie breaks where Carlsen will be strong favourite. Jock, if you're fit, get there down there this week.

And game 8 is a draw as well. :)

Game 8 from Monday. As per a draw, but an interesting one. A Sicilian Sveshnikov and Caruana had chances with white but 24. h3 was a bit soft when he could have pressed harder.

Jerry:

Danny King:

Best of 12, first to 6.5 wins:

Carlsen 4 - 4 Caruana
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline.

Nope, Jock. :) But they look to be getting more exciting, Carlsen going for it.

A bruised Magnus Carlsen entered game 9:

Jerry:

Danny King:

Best of 12, first to 6.5 wins:

Carlsen 4.5 - 4.5 Caruana

Another English, another draw, again possible chances, again opposite Bishops but no breakthrough.

Game 10. Jerry:

Danny King:

Again an interesting game, another Sicilian Sveshnikov with middle game chances and Carlsen going 21...b5! offering a pawn for position not taken by Caruana.

Best of 12, first to 6.5 wins:

Carlsen 5 - 5 Caruana.

Tension up with two to go and surely Caruana not wanting to go to rapidplay deciders, then blitz then Armageddon if necessary. Tiebreak situation is on Mr Wiki: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_C ... nship_2018

Carlsen has white in game 11 tomorrow and Caruana in game 12 on Monday. Tiebreaks scheduled for Wednesday.

Yeh, Fab's got to nail it cos no one can touch MC at rapid.

Might be an exciting last couple of rounds.

Chess24 commentary has been particularly good last couple of days with Giri joining in with Svid and Grishy.

Landed home from stateside, Jock and yay, will follow Saturday and Monday. Darn busy back to work Wednesday if tiebreaks, but they are both trying for something. As per many commenters draws are not bores, there has been action.

Opposite Bishops and looking another draw. Am quite tempted to go to that London on Monday for game 12. 75 notes though, but hey.

Is that Anish Giri with Svidler? He's no Sopiko. :( Ha, read your post properly, Jock. :)

Thursty edit notification: Just read he's married to Sopiko. :(

Carlos J wrote:There have been many mentions of Carlsen leaving the presser before Karjakin got there: https://www.rt.com/sport/367918-carlsen ... -meltdown/

I was at the presser of game 4, it takes a couple of minutes TV interviews before they get seated. They were taking too long and rightly, Carlsen, sat there after losing with hundreds of cameras and phones photographing him sat there on the stage alone, thought, "Fuck that, they're taking the piss."

And I concur with him:

Though as per, look at his face, just look at his face. The scared, lost boy of videos shown is still there. Fuck all the model contracts and socalled glam, he is just Magnus with his family.
Just looking at the VIP packages. 500 knicker:  https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/world-ch ... FFB71613FD

Gets free drinks and access to the presser after. As per, London is a venue of lots of little rooms whereas NY was big spaces and general entry entitled you to the presser after, it was in the area they did analysis. See the vid from 1'57" where Magnus leaves, that was the seating area. Have to say, great venue, but NY was better.

Game 11 from Saturday. Jerry:

Danny King:

A Petrov's defence and a draw.

Best of 12, first to 6.5 wins:

Carlsen 5.5 - 5.5 Caruana.

So to game 12 yesterday, now going to watch the videos, though know the result.

I think I'd have tipped the table over by now.
