Advice for the Tube

Post by Zambo »

I'm up in London for a day next week, and I want to be able to use the underground between 11-6. Is a day travel card the best way to do it, or pay as you go? I note that the travel card appears to restrict you to zones. Furthest stations apart I will probably travel between is North Greenwich to South Kensington.

Just use your bank card, its 1.50 a go if you're not switching zones, contactless on the machines as you go through

If you use contactless (eg, a credit or debit card) it works like the old Oyster cards.

You pay the lowest fare for each journey, and once you have paid a certain amount in one day, it caps the payments, and you travel free for the rest of the day.

One thing to bear in mind - make sure you use the same card each time. If you tap in with one card and tap out with another you get charged the maximum fare twice, and have to apply for a refund.

Yeah I think its 8.75 max innit.

That applies for buses as well.

Bas, you and I work tirelessly for a more compassionate and inclusive world, but sadly there will always be the Ghosts of less tolerant times.

Enjoy the museums, yeah use contactless as you're only between zones one and three.

Coming up to see Jeff Lynne's ELO at the O2, parking there and going to the The V&A museum. Have seen the other two.

Wouldn't that maybe be a bit too highmonobrow for our tastes?
