I've got a specialized tri, whyte mtb and cannondale cyclocross for commuting. I'm toying with getting an ebike at the moment because climbing up trials isn't as fun as going down them.

The technology behind them is really developing at a pace now.

I have always thought I'd get one when body really is packing up.

I used to do a lot of mtb riding, I've got a Specialized hardtail still. I can see why an ebike would appeal. When i was walking in the Lakes last autumn I came across a bunch of lads using them to get up one of the peaks. I was surprised how good they looked and weren't as heavy as i imagined they would be.

I will get one in the future, but at the moment I see it as an admission of advancing age & I'm still in the denial stage :)

I dunno to be honest. I can do a "10" run on the treadmill, but I've never asked any of the staff at the gym whether it's miles or kilometers

Furthest without stopping was 13 miles about 2 years ago.

I ran (probably too much) about 4-5 years ago. It was the only exercising I did really - that and walking plus the odd round of golf. Now trying to mix it up with the gym, walking, and limit the running to 2-3 times a week, and usually its about 4-5 miles. Although I should start a 10k every week or two or even a half-marathon.

I do a lot of HIIT/hill training which I'm not sure if I should continue doing as much whilst entering into early-middle age (30s).

How far can you run?

Cave-o, what motivated you to start running? Reducing stress, weight loss, fitness, a new challenge or something else?

Im thinking about doing the loch ness marathon in October. That should give me plany of time to train. Got a half marathon in Inverness this weekend. I'll make my mind up after that. I expect I'll give it a go

At the time when I first started it was just for weight loss and fitness. I had been lazy for a long time and was in poor shape. So I joined a gym and did various exercises. I enjoyed the treadmill by challenging myself to run further and further. After a bit I signed up for a 5k run and felt a great deal of satisfaction when I completed in a time I was happy with.

After that I was hooked and do a couple of 10k run events a month. Now moved on to half marathons. Entering the runs keeps me motivated to keep at it. That's why I am thinking of doing a full marathon.

Another thing which keeps my motivated is a lot of people said how better I looked now that I had lost weight. It was good confidence boost when women in the office said how good I looked.
