There is a Da Vinci exhibition on at the Walker but I think that finishes soon.

Lark Lane, just south of the city centre and near Sefton Park has a great Bohemian feel to it.

Funky restaurants and bars.

In town, Jamie Oliver’s restaurant on Paradise Street is hard to beat.

Quoting one’s own posts is normally a sign of attention seeking on message boards but I am going to make an exception here.

Stone me.....Jamie Oliver’s restaurant chain has gone into liquidation or sommat.

After me recommending it :(

I've been to a few restaurants in the past where the local kebab shop could have taught them a lesson

Never mind Jamie Oliver.
When I was in Liverpool, in the long distant past when it was really a dump, chippies run by chinese were relatively commopn. But there was one in south Liverpool which became a bit of a Mecca, people driving miles to go there.
It wasn't particularly the food quality although it was good, it was the menu.
A complete wall of the shop was covered with a closely written menu. patrons would go i and stand there for quite a while trying to read it all, before ordering.
After ordering we had a quick drive to Otterspool Promenade to eat.

Arrived in that Liverpool after just a five and half hour train ride. :o Seems lively from a quick wander to hotel. At 6pm lots of pubs chocka and many out in their finery and plenty of flesh on display. Just some food tonight as busy days ahead of to fit all in. Shame the museums are only open 10am-5pm but hey.

You can't really say anything about Liverpool can you ? It's pretty much an ism

If the people are cunts, I will say they are cunts, ditto if friendly. So far most interactions have been good.

Though of.course, you cannot judge the many on the few as in any scenario. And

One thing that does amuse so far though, like every time I go to Brum, is hearing the accent everywhere. Though my southern-northern-midland, then yokel ain't great, though dear old Bas did say I didn't say I sounded yokels last year which was nice.

I don't think you can say that about scousers. As I've said, I've been there a few times, but only to arrest people so perhaps I didn't get a balanced impression .
I do know from bitter experience that if you say anything critical about the place here you tend to get slated.
Personally I prefer both Manchester and Leeds if you find yourself in that area, but it's a matter of personal choice. Apparently they've got two cathedrals

Pure Scousephobia Royals.

Only been to Liverpool once. Flew in, got the train back as the airport was snowbound. Can't remember ever being so cold. Did the usual sights over a weekend and it was very enjoyable. People friendly and always pleased to help.

I've always noted that Evertonians are far more amiable people than pool fans. Although John Parrot did get on my fucking pip a few years back.

Previous to that there were some fucking shite Liverpool comedians who didn't do the city any favours. Plus I met a few arrogant twats from there which did slant my opinion. It must have been pure luck they were all wankers.

But about 6 or 7 local scousers changed my view and they proved to be very friendly.
