In our family there was a story of my gran being in the street during the war, which was machine gunned by a lone german bomber, and she was dragged into a shop doorway as she ran down the street which saved her life.
Always wondered if this was a bit of a tall tale until years later I saw an enemy activity report about a junkers 88 flying across Nottingham at low level during the day shooting at anything that moved, the nazi cunts.
Funny enough it started shooting at the road we moved to in the late 70's, then across the city to the hockley area of Nottingham where it tried to shoot my nan.

Hope they ended up getting shot down in flames.
