Have you ever held a conversation or said Hi to someone who you initially thought was someone else? Or ever had it happen to you, where someone was convinced you were somebody else?
I have been mistaken once for someone. Someone called John; someone was so convinced I was him or related to him that she took a picture of me (probably waited to scan it when home and sent it to him - this was 2005 - and I'll never know if John either thought "Fuck sake, cheeky bitch I am not that ugly'' or ''I'm better looking than him,"). Drink was involved, so maybe she wouldn't have been so insistent if sober, but quite bizarre really ; all of it and having to spend 20 minutes of my time telling some mad bam that I wasn't John.
And I have mistaken someone just a few days ago, visiting my folks. Ended up going in to the local shop where I see a lassie who I was 100% convinced was someone I used to work with.
Waiting in the queue and spy who I thought she was at the other end of the shop.
ME: HIYA, HOW ARE YOU? LONG TIME NO SEE!
HER: Er, not bad.
(in the queue and decide to set off the 20 yards or so to the milk department to speak).
ME: GREAT, HOLD ON. I'LL COME SAY HI
HER: SILENCE
(Halfway there and still think its her).
ME: HOW'S THE NEW JOB? I'VE NOT SEEN YOU IN AGES.
HER: Err.
(AH SHIT! That's not her. What do I do?)
ME: Ohhh, well have a nice day.
(Ditch my stuff, leave the shop, go for a twenty minute walk before returning to buy the stuff I needed again).
