Nicknames

Post by kevin04 »

Do you have a nickname? Has it stuck with you since a young or even later age?

I met a guy from one of my first schools and not to brag, but I had given him the nickname ''Hyndra'' because he would run like he was a horse galloping and for some reason it stuck and he told me, it has been his nickname throughout school and even when he joined the Marines at 18, and I was absolutley gobsmacked that a silly wee thing had stuck for ages!

We have a pal with the intitals JR who is obviously called JR - he even introduces himself to people as this for the first time as well and when organising his 30th he had a cowboy hat on the flyers :D

I find it hilarious when meeting pals - now in their 30s - with their wives and using their nickname rather than Chrisitian name. ''Alright Bawjaws'' rather than 'Mark'.

Most and all call me Kev, and I don't mind it at all, it's basically my name to my pals and some family. I get Kevie a fair bit too which I quite like. I'll never introduce myself to anyone as Kev or Kevie though, which makes me wonder about people e.g Mike, Steve, Jim etc if its Michael or Mike on the passport, and so on.

Middle names, or people who use their middle or a different name al together? I understand Dick can be Richard etc, but I know of a few who have very different names to their 'official' name e.g I know someone who was given the name Susanne but uses Margaret as her name. I've never actually asked her, guessing she didn't like Susanne.

Does anyone have any interesting nick names? Is there anyone who calls you by an unique name that only they call you e.g Dave in Only Fools And Horses type thing.

All my nicknames are ones I gave to other people and then they came back on me.

I won't mention any as they are all insults.
