Post by theleader82 »

Has anyone tried on e of those dna kits where you discover your heritage and family members ? Are they worth it or are they a bit of a con?

I had one as a birthday present a while ago, I wasn't surprised by the result. Good fun.

You're Swedish, right? I recently discovered through Ancestry.co.uk that I have Scottish roots. Less than an eighth, or something. Still cool, nevertheless.

I did one.I am apparently;
88.8% English.
7.8% Irish, Scottish, Welsh.
2.1% Middle Eastern.
1.3% Eskimo/Inuit.

Which all seems a bit strange to me.
I do know however, that two great-grandparents were County Mayo Irish.
The rest ???

My Spanish lady came out as;
81.9% iberian.
7.6% North African.
6.4% Irish, Scottish, Welsh.
2.0% Ashkenazi Jewish.
2.1% West African.

Caused more than a little amusement in the family.

I'd be very wary about using myheritage.com.
