Don't really get why someone would go up a tortuous, dangerous mountain peak when you need to have fantastic stamina and could lose your life. Experiencing bone crunching cold, loneliness, shortage of oxygen and boredom as well as possibly being with boring, horrible cunts sounds like a journey to hell. I worked with someone who was going to go up Kilimanjaro three years ago for a cancer charity set up by his wife's mate. The poor cunt (my colleague) was preparing for months and as well as shitting his pants about going and wanting to drop out came down with a heavy cold a week before having to go. He had only joined the company a couple of months ago and on probation, the silly cunt.

I guess the thrill of going up the peak, the scenery and the sense of achievement probably explains it but really.

I went to a lecture evening where one of the speakers was Noel Odell.
He was on the 1924 Mallory and Irving Everest expedition. He was apparently the last one to see them alive [by telescope] as they disappeared into mist.
When they didn't return he went a good way up, alone, following their track, to see if they could be found. Obviously no luck.

So did I in Cannes, and Brian Clough and Frank Bough gave one too.
