Surely a Carlos-style merge is in order. :D

The Remain group are at their lowest, so I have decided that I'm not going to cause any more upset for them at this present time. Let the threads roll if they are reasonable offshoots and sub titles.

Into a big Brexit mega-thread. I love a good merge in the morning. :smt023

No need to merge this fred, CJ.

It is nowt to do with Brexit and should stand alone.

This abuse of our worthless “unwritten constitution” is being done to facilitate a Queen’s Speech in which our Prime Minister will lay out a raft of jolly exciting policies to make our streets safer, save our NHS, fix our education system, help the homeless etc.....the type of things those nice Tories always place at the top of their to do list.

Our Prime Minister has categorically denied he is doing it to stymie Brexit debate.

And our Prime Minister is a truly fine citizen, a man with a great reputation as an honourable cove and most definitely not a chap given to telling porkies.

No sir, not our Prime Minister.

Don't make the big mistake of conflating opposition to what Johnson has done, and remainers.

There are many people- George Younger being one- who voted leave but who (a) know that no-deal is a disaster which people did NOT vote for; and (b) this is a profoundly undemocratic act.

We voted leave

Certain people could not accept that

They deliberately tried to fuck it up

They caused this

They will seek to blame those wanting to leave

We probably need a campaign of civil disorder to stop it. What happened with all the dire warnings from leavers threatening mass unrest if we remained in the EU?

We’ll blame the politicians who advocated Brexit if it doesn’t deliver what they promised.

I notice Michael Gove on TV suggesting the government may ignore any laws passed in Parliament his government may choose to ignore them. Voted Leave or Remain I can't see anyone justifying Johnson's gang in that situation.

Here is a very good article about our constitution from a writer I believe to be the leading polemicist on Brexit.

You can't vote for something that wasn't on the ballot-paper. As I recall, the question was, basically, Remain or Leave. I voted Leave, and having done so left it to the politicians to sort it out in a reasonably adult manner.
More fool me you may say, but any foolishness on my part wasn't in voting, but on the assumption of adultitudishness. I did what I was invited to do, and they only gave me two boxes to tick.
