Re: A General Thread About Christianity

Post by rorymac »

I like reading Royals and Rossco's religious posts just cos I'm like that tbf

There's a guy I really like .. Thomas Keating ( be interested to know what those guys think of him) .. easy to look up.
Anyway what he says .. I think effectively this :

You can't turn back the wheels of time .. it never happens. Quite a few spiritual people have told me that and I'm thinking it's probably true ?
Globalisation is happening whatever we think of it .. it is God's plan because we are all one end of the day.

No such thing as society, me me me only the individual was the Satanic lie imo Royals .. not socialism.

The devil and demons may well tempt me during this period, but I am convinced that I can see it through.
Why would lent have any bearing on someone who doesn't follow the bible?
You don't have to follow the bible to be a Christian and have Christian values.

May your god be with you on this significant Christian day.

You've got it the wrong way around, "Christian" values are just normal values for people that aren't cunts, the fact that someone needs a book of quotes to be a good man says far more about the man than the book.

Nope, I have it correct, and moreover whether Christian values are normal values for non-cunts is subjective. I don't read the bible, I am sometimes a cunt and other times a non-cunt, but try to follow Christian values, usually when I am a non-cunt.

What are "Christian values" exactly?

Basically the 10 commandments I reckon, but 1-4 are irrelevant imo. and seek to inspire goodness, honesty, love and integrity. Moses got the tablet, which I think is a load of bollocks, but they seem pretty reasonable to me.

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
9. Do not harm little children.
10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.

Interesting. You do realise you are daring to disagree fundamentally with him, don't you?

I think we have been developing a "me first " society for decades.What is done communally is viewed as inferior and probably only for the poor. This shows itself in all kinds of ways.

I despair of all the antagonism towards socialism. Largely because we are nowhere near having any socialist influence in our society, although to hear some posters on here it seems they think it's all enveloping.

I just think treat others the way you would expect people to treat your Mother.

If by some mad acid trip my mom decided to butcher somebody then I can't really have any arguments if something terrible came her way in return.

Don't let Frances O'Grady hear you talking like that Hillman. Joe Gormley might do a few spins in his grave as well :D

Talking about Lent, I forgot to mention that during my brisk constitutional yesterday in monsoon conditions, I saw an old lady walking towards me struggling a bit with an umbrella. When she was about 50 yards away she crashed to the floor. I took her hand and helped her up, and fortunately she was completely unhurt, and she thanked me and toddled off on her way.

I felt quite proud, particularly as Lent had not started, and I didn't even nick her handbag. :D

Yeah I was amazed how warm her hands were, mine were freezing cold. I hope that didn't upset her too much.
