Wasn't the deceased an alchi so she was particularly susceptible or is that misinformation put out by those pesky Russians? Shouldn't have been drinking the perfume really.

I don't know if she was an alcoholic or not, but certain people have called them 'a pair of junkies' (more than once) for which there doesn't seem to be any evidence either, almost saying, 'it serves them right', even if, and it's a big IF, they are/were either of those, the fact still remains that someone put Novichok on the streets of Britain, but I rather doubt it was the Tooth Fairy.

But because of the guy waking up they could trace it to where they found the perfume and then check the CCTV footage to see who disposed of it there.

Because of her they were able to identify and cross check the CCTV footage with the Russians coming into the country at the time. Which is why they now have suspects

I tend to go with you in that they came across the bottle, and if it was an expensive brand well, it isn't something that is usually thrown away in a public place, I hazard a guess that 99 out of a 100 people coming across it would have done the same, but it does show just how little whoever it was, cared if anyone else became infected, unless they thought it was completely empty and harmless.

I know that some people question why the Russians would wait so many years to get rid of Skripal, but what they also seem to forget is that Russia doesn't mind the long game, Skripal could have been got rid of by an traffic accident or by a hundred other quicker means and Novichok is a particularly nasty way of dying, almost as if it was geared to inflict as much pain as possible before the victim dies,

If you run the KGB or any other similar organisation, you have to have some process to influence those who have "gone native".

Trying to take out Scripal so long after he was active would probably serve to signal to others that Russia has not forgotten. Hence them using a compound that pretty clearly originated from Russia.
