I reckon rain is on it's way, the birds are flying low, and the cows are sitting down. I think I'll ring the BBC and see if they want to get one right for a change.

No, I am not looking to associate Leave with distrusting weather forecasts.
I was asking what the topic had to do with Brexit.
I pay attention to the forecast maybe 4 or 5 days a week because I will be out walking, in the garden or so on.
I don't remember the last time it was wrong except in the timing of showers, etc.
That's funny, maybe it's hard to get forecasts correct where I live. I also used to try and plan outside activities based on weather forecasts, but gave up a long long tie ago. The only time they get it right, is if there is either a ridge of high pressure stretching from Lands End to beyond the Azores, or the Atlantic is teaming with depressions all coming our way.
Really ? Where do you look ? I find the weather app I use pretty accurate as are the local forecasts on BBC news.
Its not 1987
Weather apps are shit, on my iPhone anyway. I actually go onto the Beeb website for the weather and they tend to be quite reliable.
Correct. This is yet another kick the shit out of the BBC thread.
No logic, self-contradictory.
BTW I tried Accuweather for a spell and went back to the BBC forecast

They weren't predicting a hurricane here, just the winds.

The BBC no longer get there forecast information from the Met Office; their provider now is MeteoGroup, which is a private, Europe based organistaion.
The BBC were happy with the Met Office,
Then the government told the Met Office it had to break even. And told the BBC it had to use competitive tender.
The result, the BBC uses a cheaper service which probably is not as good. And public money goes to the private sector when before in stayed in public funds.
Brilliant.

This is kicking the shit out of those who provide weather forecasts wherever the come from, and whoever presents them. Having said that, you have no grounds to back the BBC on anything to be honest.

The BBC weather department are there to do a job. I’m not going to pat them on the back when on occasions they actually forecast the weather correctly by chance.

Exactly. Praise when you do a consistently good job, or do more than expected. Just doing your job is what you are compensated for, and criticism is what you get when you under achieve. If you keep doing a shit job you should expect to get sacked.

Re: Hurricane Florence
Hey Hillman, is it a bit breezy your way today? Is Helene tossing your window blinds?
Thought I'd catch the BBC forecast before I climbed out of bed this morning to test it's accuracy. Surely they can't get it wrong with a big storm blowing up the west coast. Breezy and very mild they said, and I noted the band of rain was around 150 miles away on the map. No rain for us today. Yippee.
Just thought I'd throw my head of the window to take in the bracing air, and guess what, yep pissing down.
Just another minor blip I guess on the usual perfect performance.

Sorry Bas, but Ali is almost upon us. Is that short for Alistair btw?
I bet there are some snorters heading our way this winter. Expect Deidre and Tristan to be particularly horrid.
