What a fabulous fuck up this has been.

I understand Putin looking around and thinking he is the only heavyweight in the game. He thinks he can get away with anything.

It turns out that the Skripal farce was conducted by the GRU who are in a struggle for power and money. They wanted to show Putin what they could do, eliminating "traitors".

The video they released of the two suspects would have shamed an amateur dramatic society. Consecutive serial numbers on their passports, with their application forms being kept secret until they were leaked today. Travelled 3000 miles "to see Salisbury Cathedral with its 136 foot spire", FFS. Travelled from London, went in the opposite direction to the cathedral, went back to London and then back to Moscow. Just like anyone would.

There's not much protest in Russia, but this whole affair has provoked a great deal of laughter, so badly was it done and then covered-up.

And of course there are people on here who are so determined to be conned that they added the idea that it was a British stunt..

You can understand if other security agencies don't expect to get a fair deal.
