The prospect of a general election increases by the day.

Welcome back, Steve. Hope you're well, pal :)

Yep, this could be a huge week in our political history.
Corbyn has to go, simple as that. An utter liability.

Hi Sub.

I'm ok, hope all is well with you?

Expect more to defect from both parties, all Remain supporters. This will pretty much render any form of governance impossible.
So I reckon a general election will be called quickly. This will allow both Labour & Tories to get candidates in quickly to replace defectors. Both established parties would also hope to capitalize before TIG gets it's act together - it's not even an official party yet (I think). It certainly has not got a constitution.

Of course, all 11 defectors were elected on the manifesto's of their respective parties. They all also champion a 'People's Vote' The least we could expect is for them to immediately resign and re-stand on their own platforms in these seats.

Or is this new found championing of seeking public approval somewhat selective?

Where most, if not all of them will lose their seats. What a way to end your political career.

I can. I think it’s a massive blunder.

They should do their job of representing their constituents. They're putting themselves before the people that put them into positions of power and influence.

They should hold by-elections. Steve’s right about the double-standard.

Didn't Deggsy have a Talkradio show years ago? No way is he 71 years old.

Yep he did and wasn't too bad. And used to like Tony Banks as well, though that might have been talkSPORT time.

I doubt any of them are going to stand again. I also doubt there would be a general election because Labour would stand on their Norway option and the Tories - who the fuck knows that Brexit they want.

Really interesting to see how they influence Brexit policy post March 29th in terms of the long term arrangement. I guess that a Norway 2.0 type deal now has a majority in Parliament.

Why?

The Tory party isn't going to vote for an election. Labour isn't going to call a vote of no confidence because they now (oddly) have the upper hand in Brexit.

Isn't that true of them and any other MP?
If you mean they should represent their constituents views re the EU, would that not apply to Rees-Mogg? A clear majority in HIS constituency voted to REMAIN.

Probably meant representing the views of constituents who expect M.Ps to respect an electoral outcome. That's a pretty common view in society you know

You vote for a constituency MP to represent the constituency. That is the entire reason constituencies exist, they are elected to represent their constituency, not their party.

I thought that was commonly understood in society.

That's not how it works. It wasn't a referendum by constituency. Therefore all politicians should be representing the views of the majority in this case.
