I wonder what he fans would have thought if the trial he was illegally interfering with had been thrown out as a result and all the guilty nonces been freed.

Except the sentencing had already taken place. He was hoping to catch the nonces on camera being escorted away .
The police were arrested him anticipating a possible disturbance of the peace and hence more paperwork.

That of itself wasn't the problem, as I understand it.
It was that there was a further trial due of other men who were associates of those being sentenced.
It was intended to keep reporting restrictions on in case publicity allowed the defence to say a jury could know that this first group had been found guilty.
Given what Robinson did, I don't know whether the later trial proceeded or not.

Asking complete mugs to send you money for no good reason is definitely a growth industry. Why bother with elaborate scams when people will just give you their money because you ask.

At the Old Bailey on Thursday, Dame Victoria Sharp told Robinson that the time he previously spent behind bars for the contempt would be taken into account, reducing his sentence to 19 weeks - of which he would serve half before being released.

Tommy must be cock-a-hoop this afternoon with his supporters. Not with the amount of jail time he was given but not only does he get them to send him money, he’s now got one of them (a Mr Yaxley-Lennon), to do his sentence for him.
