The issue isn't so much that the Lawrence case, (or this one) was or wasn't a racially-motivated attack, it's that other cases where skin colour was reversed, which were equally or more obviously racist either weren't regarded as such, or went almost completely under the radar so that there's a clear sense of one approach by the establishment to black victims and another to white.
